Teo Ser Luck

Member of Parliament

Mr Teo Ser Luck is an entrepreneur and Singapore Member of Parliament. He was a former Minister of State in the cabinet and a Mayor. Now in the private sector, he has started a few of his own ventures and building others. He also chairs and advises a few listed companies in SGX mainboard.

He has built his own ventures in various sectors and mostly technology related in the areas of finance, education, food, hardware, general commodities, sports and fitness, event management, and other sectors. Mr Teo is also currently an adviser to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Singapore (ISCA) and Singapore Fintech Association.

General Manager of SEA Region – Klook

Soong Chuan Sheng is the General Manager of Klook, a world leading travel activities and services booking platform. Prior to joining Klook in 2015, he accumulated professional experience in corporate finance and investment banking where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions with Deutsche Bank Hong Kong for 3 years. 

Now, he leads Klook’s expansion across the SEA region where he oversees business development, strategic planning and operations. He plays a pivotal role in the establishment of partnerships and launched 8 offices across SE Asia, India and the Middle East, growing the team into one of the most important regions for both inbound and outbound travels for Klook.

Willis Wee

CEO and Founder – Tech in Asia

Willis is the founder of Tech in Asia and spends his time driving the company closer to its mission of building and serving Asia’s tech and startup ecosystem. Day-to-day, he thinks deeply about the content and products the company pushes out to its users. He also spends significant time talking to users, founders, and his colleagues to get feedback and gain new perspectives.

Willis has been fortunate to count East Ventures, Fenox Venture, Hanwha, Softbank, Walden International, Y Combinator, and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin among Tech in Asia’s list of investors and partners.

Before Tech in Asia, Willis founded an education center, did door-to-door sales selling vacuum cleaners, and sold grasshoppers to his classmates in school to make ends meet. In his spare time, Willis enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.

Over the last 8 years, the company has gone through major phases of growth and worked through some challenges as well. Come listen as Willis Wee, CEO and Founder, shares Tech in Asia’s journey.

Maria Li

Chief Operating Officer – Tech in Asia

Maria is a tech strategist with an operations and consulting background. She is currently the COO for Tech in Asia, the largest English media technology company focused in Asia. As part of Tech in Asia, Maria is helping to build the tech and ecosystem in Asia by telling the stories of the companies, founders, and innovators from this emerging tech region.

Previously, Maria spent almost four years at Apple in their business operations and commercial strategy group. She began her career as an international development consultant focused on Sub-Saharan Africa, leveraging her MBA from Wharton and MPP from the University of Virginia.

Over the last 8 years, the company has gone through major phases of growth and worked through some challenges. Come listen as Maria Li, COO, shares Tech in Asia’s journey.

Rachel Lim

Co-Founder – Love, Bonito

Rachel Lim is the Co-Founder of Love, Bonito, an online fashion business grown to be the leading women’s brand with presence across Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Australia. Having co-founded the business at the tender age of 19 when e-commerce was minimal, the brand was immediately propelled to the forefront of the retail industry and redefined the fashion scene in Singapore. In 2016, Rachel was honored by Forbes as Asia’s 30under30. 

Love, Bonito has just recently opened its third and largest physical store in the revamped Funan Mall. Come hear Rachel share her personal experience of transforming the industry. How much of it was luck, and how much was foresight, and how much was just grit and courage?

By registering for Carigos X-Change Talk (Event), you have accepted the terms and conditions of Carigos and Eventbrite. The terms and conditions placed by Carigos will take precedence over Eventbrite’s if any contradiction is to occur.

Public recipients may use Eventbrite as a direct ticketing gateway for purchasing of tickets. Carigos reserve the rights to change the Event details without prior notice to its recipients. Tickets may only be refunded when there is (1) an over-subscription of the Event, or (2) cancellation of the Event by the organizers. In the occurrence of (1) or (2), ticket holders will be notified via email and refunds will be processed after the event on 4 September 2019.

Private invitees of Carigos’ partners will receive their tickets through Eventbrite upon Carigos’ confirmation. Carigos reserve the rights to turn down any invitees if (a) the number of invites per partner has surpassed allowed capacity, or (b) an invalid referral promotion code has been registered.

Public recipients and private invitees may enter the Event venue strictly by using Eventbrite’s e-Tickets, and Carigos reserves the rights to turn away any unregistered individuals. The terms and conditions of the Event may be changed at any given time under the discretion of Carigos.
